Meet the Staff
Mary Shappee is the owner, trainer, and main instructor at Majic Stables. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Animal Science at the University of Wisconsin "Riverfalls" in 1976. She has had many students that have won World Championships and Reserve Championships at Morgan Grand Nationals. This includes Hunter/Jumper divisions, on the flat and over fences, in the years '01,'02,'03,'04,'05,'06. Also Dressage, Pleasure, and Equitation in the years '07,'08,'09. Mary has had many students that have gone on to compete in other areas, such as Barrel Racing and Open Dressage. Mary holds memberships in American Riding Instructors Association, American Morgan Horse Association, United States Equestrian Federation, United States Dressage Federation & several local groups as well. She is also a member of the Norman Chamber of Commerce.
Gert Shuckhart is co-owner and office manager at Majic Stables. She has been managing the lesson and camp programs full time since graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1996 with a degree in Individual, Family, and Community Services with Child Development and Family Relations. Her love of children and family gives the students and parents someone who understands. Gert has raised three girls who all love horses and have been involved with showing. She is a member of American Morgan Horse Association and United States Dressage Federation. Although she does not ride, she has been involved with Morgan horses through managing the youth club and being an active member in the local Morgan Club, SSMHA (Sooner State Morgan Horse Association).
Shannon Braudway grew up around horses and has taught horsemanship since 1991. She received her certification in Horsemanship Instruction from West Texas AMU in 1993. She also has an Associates in Science from Oklahoma City Community College. Shannon has been teaching at Majic Stables since 2000. She teaches beginner to intermediate level riders.
Mary Ontiveros grew up riding and showing under the instruction of Mary Shappee. As she is Gert Shuckhart's daughter, she worked on the farm and worked summer camps from the beginning. Mary showed Quarter horses and Morgan horses in Hunt Seat, Jumpers & Dressage. After high school she went to work for trainers in Texas and Kansas before coming back to Oklahoma to work for Majic Stables. She teaches many tiny trotters and beginner to intermediate level riders.
Michelle Lundy fell in love with horses during a Summer Camp at the ripe old age of 5, riding Saddlebreds. She had her grandmother talked into a horse by age 7 and started showing shortly after. She competed regularly until her senior year of high school showing Arabians and Half-Arabians (National Show Horses) successfully in Country English Pleasure and Saddle Seat Equitation. In recent years, she has expanded her knowledge of hunter pleasure and dressage divisions. She started with Majic Stables in the summer of 2011 teaching summer camp. Michelle has recently been brought on as Majic Stables Assistant Trainer and continues to teach summer camps and Groupon lessons. She is a member of the American Morgan Horse Association, United States Equestrian Federation, United States Dressage Federation, and Sooner State Morgan Horse Association.
